TUT Interview with Paddy

About

Interview with Paddy aka Jesus Jones about his first single, Dundalk, his bandana and more.

After years of street performing, Paddy is releasing his first song and music video in September. The goal in doing this is to raise money to help pay for a headstone for his parents grave with the excess going to towards children’s charity The Jack and Jill Foundation. This, along with jumpers and t-shirts will hopefully help raise the money needed.

Info

The brief for the video was to be a straight interview. The interviewer was standing off screen and wanted their voice removed and replaced by the subtitles at the bottom of the screen. They didn’t want any cutaways to keep the attention focused on Paddy. The phone was used as part of the artist direction and used to capture the audio to give the distinct sound.

Bad Blood

About

For this assignment we were tasked with working in groups of two, to produce a creative video piece lasting roughly two minutes with a basic theme and storyline. With extra focus on colour, contrast, original shot angles and camera techniques.

Info

The piece is set up as a traditional gangster piece with the music setting the tension. It pays homage to films like Drive and the signature Tarantino trunk shot.

The Robbery

About

A short brickfilm made for a stop motion assignment. For this assignment I was tasked with creating a short stop-motion animation that either reworks an existing story, or tells a new story. Including at least two emotions in the animation.

Info

The piece starts out with a normal enough man walking down the street before he stops outside a house. The man heads inside and finds a computer which he takes and looks to make his escape. In this first part we encounter the first emotion. From the look on the robbers face he clearly gets enjoyment from this behaviour.

As he looks to make his escape, he realises he triggered an alarm. This brings us to the second emotion on show, fear. The fear of getting caught. He runs to make an escape only for the police to arrive and as he looks to go the other way, he finds himself cornered.

The scene ends with the robber being locked up in jail. But we can just make out the sinister smile from before.

The Bad Tooth

About

A short digital animation created using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and Ableton Live. For the assignment I was tasked with creating a short digital animation that either reworks an existing story, tells a new story, or provides informational knowledge. Including a point of conflict in the animation, and its resolution.

Info

The Bad Tooth is the story of man versus tooth. The piece opens with the protagonist eating a burger in the park. He is stopped in his tracks by the interruption of The Bad Tooth. The tooth causes our protagonist severe pain, this is the introduction to the conflict. Our hero is in pain and must think on his feet resulting in desperate measures been taken as he ties the tooth to his companion, a fed-up dog, and tosses the burger. This result in the dog running after the burger and pulling the tooth thus resolving the conflict and bringing a sigh of relief to our hero.
